frances f. morast walk to beat ovarian cancer
Put together by Karla Morast Psaros in memory of her mother, Frances Morast, the Walk to Beat Ovarian Cancer is an annual event that takes place in September in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Frances was a schoolteacher in Bridgewater and lived in the town for most of her life. She was very active in the community, serving on the town board and was always fundraising for the school system. She was very well-known in the community and was loved by her students. Frances lost her battle with ovarian cancer in September 2007.
Karla contacted Ovations for the Cure of Ovarian Cancer, as she wanted the money raised by this three-mile walk to benefit research for ovarian cancer and raise awareness of the symptoms of the disease. The walk has been a huge success over the past two years!
If you are hosting a walk/run in your community and would like Ovations to be the beneficiary, please use the contact form and we will put on our walking shoes!
warwick country club golf tournament
Currently in its third year, the Warwick Golf Tournament is hosted at Warwick Country Club by Ovations' Ambassador and Director Linda Kacewicz. Linda has a close connection to Ovations for the Cure of Ovarian Cancer, her sister is the late Patricia Franchi Flaherty, who recently lost her battle with ovarian cancer; the same battle that also took their mother thirty years prior. Each year, Linda and members of the Warwick Country Club come together to raise money for the Madeline Franchi Ovarian Cancer Research Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, as well as other funds and initiatives through Ovations for the Cure of Ovarian Cancer. This event has raised over $58,000 in the past three years and will continue with their efforts.
If you are a member of a country/golf club (or other specialized group, such as tennis, fishing, etc.) or would like to host an athletic tournament for which Ovations will be the beneficiary, please use the contact form and tee off!
